Setting Up Your Business Entity

Pre-requisite 98 Starting a Small Business or similar knowledge. Now you know you want to be your own boss, come file all the necessary license applications and forms. At the end of the workshop you will be a business owner.

Intro to QuickBooks

Course designed for participants with no QuickBooks experience. This hands on course will cover downloading the free version of QuickBooks Simple Start and creating a data file. Working with lists, transactions, reports and data file security. Comparison of the different QuickBooks versions and an overview of basic business bookkeeping. Bring a memory stick if you would like to take the data file with you to work with.

QuickBooks Beginning User – 3 sessions

Courses designed for participants with some experience using QuickBooks but are not yet comfortable with the basic functions. These hands-on courses will cover, but are not limited to: data protection/backup/restore, working with lists and reports, creating transactions, customizing preferences, and memorized transactions.

Bank Reconciliation in QuickBooks

 

Instructor – Deborah Asavarahapun, Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor

 

Have you been posting transactions in QuickBooks but are unsure how to reconcile your accounts with your bank statements? Working with your QuickBooks data file and bank statements you will enter any un-posted transactions, learn to make corrections as needed, and reconcile your bank accounts. Bring your bank statements for 2009, check registers, deposit receipts and your QuickBooks data file on your laptop or a memory stick. If you bring a memory stick and/or you use QuickBooks for Mac please contact the office for instructions.

This class is not designed to resolve complicated data file errors or extreme amounts of un-posted or un-reconciled data – if you need help with this, please call the office for guidance.

Excise/Sales Tax Preparation

 

Instructor – Deborah Asavarahapun, Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor

 

In this hands-on workshop you will produce reports, prepare and file your Washington State Department of Revenue business and occupation tax return. Bring your QuickBooks data file on your laptop or a memory stick. If you bring a memory stick and/or you use QuickBooks for Mac please contact the office for instructions. If you do not use QuickBooks please contact the office to find out what documentation to bring in lieu of a data file. Lastly, if you plan to pay your taxes electronically please bring your bank information.

We strongly recommend all bank accounts be reconciled in QuickBooks prior to filing your taxes. If you would like help reconciling please consider attending a Saturday Users Workshop or our 130 Bank Reconciliation in QuickBooks course prior to this workshop.

QuickBooks Inventory

Pre-requisite 110 QuickBooks course or similar experience. Participants will create items, work with purchase orders, item receipts, vendor bills and payments, inventory adjustments, and reports.

Excel Tips & Tools

Participants should be comfortable working with the standard functions at a high beginner/intermediate level. Class will cover shortcuts, formulas used in bookkeeping, merging text, linked sheets, introduction to pivot tables & working with exported QuickBooks report data. Please note, this class will be taught using the 2003 version of Excel.

Deborah Asavarahapun, Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor, will be on hand to help you resolve your bookkeeping problems the second Saturday of each month. Bring your QuickBooks data file on a memory stick or bring your laptop and your documents and get your questions answered while you get your work done. Drop-ins are welcome but space is limited.
